I downloaded PHP 4.3.2RC1 and installed it thinking I would get an installed
PEAR, nope, NaN, no such luck. The go-pear.bat worked and zazam I thought I
had PEAR, nope, NaN, SOL. There in the PHP directory was that ugly pear.bat
file waiting to burn up my afternoon trying to figure out what bin_dir means
when there is no binary files anywhere to be found, MAYBE this is where the
php scripts are located, who knows because the ugly pear.bat gives me no
clues and being a clue-less windows user who cares.
After figuring out was needed I tried to run pear, again the ugly pear.bat
got me, seems it is suppose to run? The last time I spent several hours
getting this to work there was a script directory with a pear.in script in
it, that was the script the ugly pear.bat was running. Since there was no
script directory only a pear.php file I tried that and now I have pear list
from the command prompt returning to the command prompt without any
error..... or list.
Would it hurt anyone to just post a message saying Windows user not welcome?
Or how about just letting us know that the PHP team is NOT supporting PEAR
period!
Again, the concept is great but somehow, sometime, somebody has to make this
a no-brainer, 96% of the desk-tops are windows based.
