I was going to attach the go-pear.php script from php4.3.2RC1, Windows
binary distro, as of this last weekend but the latest version of Outlook
doesn't allow file attachments(we are real secure now). The functions you
speak of are not there. I'll go look at the tarball from PHP.net and see if
the go-pear.bat is different; Nope, in fact there is no go-pear.bat in the
tarball. The tarball has the standard \scripts directory with the perl
script and a pearwin.php script. The pearwin.php script does not have the
'displayHTML' function in it.
What I had to do:
Download the tarball from PHP4.3.2RC1 and unpack the pear directory into
your PHP directory as in C:\PHP4\pear ---
edit the pear.in file and remove the everything from the top until the <?php
tag
edit the pear.bat
@ECHO OFF
REM -------------------
set PHP_PATH=c:\php4\cli
set PEAR_INSTALL_DIR=c:\php4\pear
set PEAR_EXTENSION_DIR=c:\php4\extensions
set PEAR_DOC_DIR=c:\php4\pear\docs
REM -------------------
set DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR=\
%PHP_PATH%\php.exe -q %PEAR_INSTALL_DIR%\scripts\pear.in %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6
%7 %8 %9
@ECHO ON
Add C:\PHP4 to the PATH so C:\PHP4\CLI\PHP.EXE can find the PHP dll's
NOTE: The instructions for installing PHP tells users to place the .dll's
into the windows directory as in C:\WINNT\ for NT or C:\WINDOWS for most
other versions of Windows, any application that needs access to a DLL will
look in the 'PATH' for the DLL. Do you really want to search for a DLL?
Place all the PHP DLL's into the Apache directory where the apache.exe lives
along with php.ini, when apache.exe load the cgi or sapi PHP module it will
look in the apache directory first THEN start searching. This is why you
need the PHP directory in the path, the command line php.exe needs to know
where the dll's are. a simple way for PHP to do this would have been to
place the php.exe command line process into the same directory as the dll's
by naming it cliphp.exe ? Another nice feature about doing this is upgrades,
it only takes a few seconds with all the files located in the apache
directory.
And please note: Including the path to pear.bat does not allow you to
execute a .bat file, only binary files.
Then run the go-pear.bat from the command line as in: C:\PHP4\go-pear
Now when I enter pear list I see the list of installed modules
It would be nice to have the required packages for Horde in a file that
could be redirected into this process.....

Have you looked at the source file for go-pear?
You might wanna have a look, looking specifically how the
variable 'WebInstaller' is used, and perhaps the function defined 'function
displayHTML($page = 'Welcome', $data = array())'. It works for me, unless
I
have a different go-pear.php then other poeple?
I assure you I was not trying to berate anyone, and as far as I was
concerend,
this is a far better method of installing PEAR then though the CLI.
