Hello all,
I am the Program Manager for the SQL Server PHP driver project at Microsoft, and our team would like
to add our extensions to PECL. But first, let me introduce the project.
The SQL Server PHP Driver project is a PHP 5.x extension that allows for connecting to and
reading/writing data from Microsoft SQL Server. The project contains two extensions, one extension
is the SQLSRV extension which exposes a procedural API while the other is an extension implements
PDO (PDO_SQLSRV). These extensions enable PHP scripts/applications to connect to all editions of SQL
Server 2005 and later (including SQL Azure).
This project is approximately 4 years mature with v1.0 release (the SQLSRV extension) in July 2008,
followed by v1.1 release in October 2009, and recently the v2.0 release in August 2010 that added
support for PDO. We have received good testimonials of the extensions being used in production
environments.
This project has always been open source from the beginning at http://sqlsrvphp.codeplex.com. We would like this extension
to follow the existing PECL extension development and release process by hosting and maintaining the
source code on pecl.php.net in the read-only repository, just like some other PECL extensions.
The source code for the extension is currently available here: http://sqlsrvphp.codeplex.com/SourceControl/changeset/changes/55860
The binary download for the extension is currently available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=80e44913-24b4-4113-8807-caae6cf2ca05
We have followed the PECL submission guidelines as per http://pecl.php.net/account-request.php
Specifically:
1. The Apache 2.0 is used for the source code and will be used for the binaries
(http://www.opensource.org/licenses/apache2.0)
2. The code complies with the PHP coding standards.
3. The documentation will be published in the official php manual on php.net.
Please let us know if this submission request will be accepted.
Thanks, and best regards,
