Interesting, though, that Macromedia lists this among the new features:
"Use the new Code View to access the new integrated Text Editor, or use the
new Split View to see both Code and Design views simultaneously. The Code
View's new live syntax coloring, tag balancing, and auto indenting make
coding a snap."
Considering that the DW API is so JavaScript-able and the large
extension-writing community that has resulted, maybe there's hope that one
of those JS gurus will also soon write a PHP extension to this new Code
View...?
