The bit that does confuse me is that all the scripts (including phpinfo)
work fine from the command line. Could it be my configuration of Apache ?

Yup, that seems sensible...
I'm all out of ideas ... the only thing I've found in the past with this
kind of problem is either corrupt download, wrong service-pack for NT4, or
incompatible versions of modules.
More than that I can't help any further 'fraid.
It's a curious one methinks.
