Franks advice worked for the phpinfo script !!! but not for a script
containing mysql links !!! any more ideas ?

That's a shame -- I've had a great experience with PHP! Mind you, PHP4 is
new
and so full support for installation and cofig. and loadable modules etc. is
more of an issue -- if it *is* available, then finding it is harder!
I've not needed sessions because I use MySQL databases to drive all my
sites...
