Basically I find this a quite nice idea, but I have two thoughts on
this.
The problems I see here:
1) Instead of a db access you would need a directory to write data to
anyway, so something has to be configured even with a flat file db only.
2) The flat file db would have to support quite a lot of SQL. By using a
flat file db, PEAR packages would depend on the features it provides to
fulfill the tests.
But, to be fair, I have not been looking yet at what is provided by the
mentioned system.
