The Typo3 guys have a really nice doc system going that's built on OpenOffice as the only documentation editor. It makes writing docs drop-dead simple: http://typo3.org/1387+M51c8f73012d.0.html ...but I doubt the PEAR documentation team is going to move away from DocBook at this point, the die is cast on that one if fear.
