Hello,
I'm wondering about the release schedule for Net_Socket -- I see that 1.0.2 was released recently (2004.04.26), incorporating Socket.php v1.9.
I believe the changes made to socket 1.10/1.11 to be extremely beneficial, as the class no longer extends PEAR -- alleviating a resource allocation problem (see PHP Bug #27992).
The commit comment for Socket.php v1.10 indicates "I'll sit on
this a while before rolling a package of it, though. Comments welcome."
I know I don't have any real karma on the PEAR lists, but my comment is: this should be rolled as soon as possible; it's not currently possible to do a large number of socket connections with Net_Socket without a segfault, or weird resource behavior (runs out of resources).
If that's confusing, I'd be happy to clarify.
Thanks,
S
