I know I don't have any real karma on the PEAR lists, but my comment is: this should be rolled as soon as possible; it's not currently possible to do a large number of socket connections with Net_Socket without a segfault, or weird resource behavior (runs out of resources).
I'd love to release it. I guess I'd like feedback on whether or not it should be released as 1.0.3, or as 2.0, or what, since no longer extending PEAR *could* be a BC break if anyone was taking advantage of that fact.
puh tricky indeed. The chances are fairly slim this will actually affect a user. However technically it is a BC break. It would mean that alot of packages need to be updated if we are to move to a new major version. Generally I think all PEAR regulations should be interpreted with common sense. I will ponder this a bit more myself and would appreciate comments from others. regards, Lukas Smith smith@backendmedia.com _______________________________ BackendMedia www.backendmedia.com berlin@backendmedia.com Linn Zwoch Smith GbR Pariser Str. 44 D-10707 Berlin Tel +49 30 83 22 50 00 Fax +49 30 83 22 50 07
