I think that was his point (Manuel, correct me if I'm wrong):
Adopt metabase now, and if someone really feels like having
to much time, port Metabase to C and not something which
turns in a year out not be the 'real thing' (ok, I was
speaking about PEAR::DB I hope this was clear).
PEAR::DB -> no real abstraction. So is it than even worth for
porting it? I think that was one of his points...
