Why not HTTP_Request? It's in PEAR, after all, and it the PEAR
standard for making HTTP requests. It also allows people to use the
package who don't have / don't want curl.
If I've completely missed something here, as I've not reviewed the
code, let me know, but IMHO all use of curl could and should be done
through HTTP_Request. Making a curl backend to HTTP_Request would be a
better solution than not using it entirely.
Of course, is also seems that a new backend could be written for your
package to use HTTP_Request rather than curl. This is a good thing and
I'd personally like to see it in the package.
