Hello, Bertrand, I just want to say that I agree 100% with you. For me, Auth is useless as it stands, and I end up writing my own code for each project. What I would like to see is a great implementation of Auth/User management in PEAR, that is pushed as a PHP standard. You know how painful it is to try and integrate 4-5 existing scripts out there into a CMS (Gallery, phpBB, Phorum etc) and to merge their authentication and login capabilities. If we could come up with that killer auth class that was acceptable for most script writers then tasks such as this would be much easier. FWIW, Wolfram Kriesing <lists@kriesing.de> wrote an auth class and submitted it to PEAR for inclusion but was turned down. You can find more about it @ http://sf.net/projects/auth. I haven't had a good look at it (Unfortunately I find the documentation for Wolfram's work to be a little hard to follow sometimes ;-)) so don't know if it's suitable, or what the differences are. Simply busting out that something needs to be changed is a bit poor. So what do you want to change in detail? Make a list of the things that need to be changed practically. Provide patches for the existing system. Do something constructive. I knew you would react like that :-) I am not saying Auth is bad, I just say it is not complete enough and the way it is designed now doesn't allow for changes to be made without a complete rewrite, IMO. Auth is good enough for simple authentication systems and does the job well when it comes to that only.
