I had a look in PHPDoc to try to understand what and how it does. As
far as I understood it basically uses regular expressions to do its job.
I was the one who started this merge idea and told it to PHPDocumentor
developers. I think it's a good thing to do, since both do the same
thing with good and bad points that can be organized to make an unique
(and better) application.
Also, I tried to talk to PHPDoc mantainter (?) - Ulf Wendel - to try to
understand better how it works and to know about his opinion about the
merge. I had no responses from various mails sent to him.
And I talked to a professor to guide me on my conclusion tesis about
PHPDoc. I'm planning to do it similar to a compiler, with lexical and
maybe semantical analysis and all the formal processes.
Some friends are making a PHP Compiler and Optimizer as their
conclusion tesis and they will finish it on this semester. That
implementation can help me on PHPDoc.
I have some days to talk better to some professors and other people to
decide whatever I will go forward on this. I have some questions: (1)
What's your opinion? (2) Someone could help me on this? (3) Has it some
future or am I dreaming? (4) Where is Wally? ;D
