I seem to have lost all my pear (pear list says nothing installed) so im trying to reinstall it all, i did pear install console_getopt, pear install archive_tar no problems there... then I do pear install pear (??), it seems to want to default to php4 (i am working in c:\php) PEAR constructor called, class=pear_registry downloading PEAR-0.90.tar ... ...done: 333,824 bytes PEAR constructor called, class=archive_tar failed to create c:\php4\pear PEAR destructor called, class=pear_frontend_cli I think I have a seriously messed up pear but it all seems a bit confusing.... i have done go-pear in the past (is that just a script to install the basic stuff?) from pear.bat set PHP_BIN=c:\winnt\php.exe set PEAR_PATH=c:\php\pear there is only one pear.bat on the entire system At 19:53 20/06/2002 +0800, you wrote:
You need to install PEAR_Frontend_Gtk after PEAR, cause the pear package has a Gtk.php file in it. - which is the blank window.. -- getting close :) reard alan Michael Dransfield wrote:
ok - out of frustration, i deleted all the pear.in except the one in php\pear\scripts and deleted al the pear.bat except winnt pear -G still fails now if i do c:\winnt\php.exe c:\php\pear\scripts\pear.in -G I get the dialog appear!! but it is blank (ie just a small window with no content), all the hello worlds print out here, but no app (?) 3. that pear.php (probably in c:\php4\pear\pear.in) looks a bit like http://cvs.php.net/co.php/php4/pear/scripts/pear.in?r=1.60
most of it looks the same - i have this if ($opt[0] == 'G') {
            $fetype = 'Gtk';
        }
i checked out from cvs only a few days ago... i cant seem to work out the .in file - i tried adding debugging information, but nothing gets printed (like print_r($opts)
even echo "HELLO WORLD"; at the top? looks like it is still trying to run another bat file... - might be worth checking register_argc_argv, however the current pear.in should handle this perfectly well. you could always try C:\php4\php.exe C:\php4\pear\pear.in -G
Actually It may be worth adding my little hack to franks bootstrapper so we can do a gpear.exe to fire up the gtk installer...
That would seem much easier, and more user friendly for the newbies.. It could be added to the start menu, or you could even just have a bat file which just runs pear -G, make it minimise the window
