There is no battle, nobody will or can force you to merge and at the end of the day I won't object to any competitive extension in PECL. I only suggest better solutions to avoid a massive mess with extension sharing the exact same library usage with only minor differences (not talking about implementation but from a user point of view). And that's something you totally ignored and did not even try to consider. That's your call, but please don't come back here and accuse us or me to block you or your work, that's simply not what is happening here. > Pierre's last statement above clearly shows that originally my request > should have been accepted with open arms That's not what I said. What I said is that we do not prevent competitive packages to co exist in PECL. Whether I consider this exact case as a good thing is something totally different. > but nobody is even willing to > actually step back and consider the point that I did not just add OOP to > your codebase, I wrote a completely different library that just happens to > share the same library as you, libGeoIP. And I pointed you about other extensions where such things happened and now live inside one single extension smoothly, having BC and new APIs, bringing benefits to everyone and avoid confusions. Anyway, it is so obvious that a merge/replacement with BC or similar solution is way better for everyone. Please sit down together, put your egos on the side and try to get that done together.
