Greg now I just must answer you with a short post. I'm not entirely sure if you are being ticked of with this whole thing because there is a point in what was decided on which you were opposed to 2 years ago and still are. Maybe it's another thing ? I haven't been able to read most of the other blog posts but I must agree that how some of the responses from said group members have been less than stellar, a bit personal bias going on. Obviously people still are not completely synced with how things should work. I want to make it clear that starting this mailing list so early after the meeting was a blatant mistake. Why ? Because the meeting was a spur of the moment thing, decided at conference, to take an idea that had just been a dream and actually sit down and talk about it. What was not done was to talk about the process this group would follow, how things would be decided on, how new members would be voted in and so on, you know, what keeps a group together and on course. Time between meeting and this becoming public was just way too short. Things were approached incorrectly and for that I apologize and what now has to happen is we need to sit down and decide on all the process and write it down, propose it to the community and then we can start thinking about coming up with some kind of standard. This will take some time, as you know from back when the new pear-group was formed, and the problem was the this got out too soon without anything being setup or properly decided on. Yesterday I said the same thing as you, lets close down this list as it serves no point until we have the process part proper but since we have so many people posting it might be just a bad move. A discussion with the community and other members should happen in the public but only after we have got our act together and decided how things will work. Unfortunately as you know Greg, sometimes a group or even a single person has to just make a decision, for better or worse. Regards Helgi
