OK, so you write Zeev an email like 'ok, I have an offer
for you, it's big money', but you never get an answer -
the 'd' key was hit.

That may be true, but usually when no response is received it usually
means the piece of software is no long supported. The sheer volume of
email that developers receive combined with relatively uninteresting
subject lines dealing with software you no long support lead to a quick
tap of the 'd' key before the message is even opened.
You get what you pay for. If you really want help, then you might have to
pay for it. Heck if it's for a "big client" make them pay for it.
Just my 2cents.
