Generally yes. We're trying to create (or rather, maintain) a tool that is useful for the most people, not necessarily the most beautiful tool int he world. Whenever there's something that will harm many more users than it'll benefit, or generally, when changing the status quo - we'd rather avoid this, even if it comes with a price of the language being 'less beautiful' in your opinion.
