We're not educators.
We're software providers, trying to have some fun, and provide software that would be most useful for the end user.
As christened by Rasmus a few years ago, we measure such things by the 'WTF factor'. The WTF factor for changing the default for this option is skyrocketing. The gain? Negligible, or very small at best, unless you have secret aspirations to become a ruthless teacher. The bottom line? Changing the default is not an option.
