Is there a way to retrieve > the pathnames Windows is actually, really looking at and > print them? I might be wrong here but most people find it very difficult to compile on windows (not that many people have VC or any other compiler) Thus a very generic build is provided and this is the best way of supporting the php.ini. If you want to change the path when compileing on windows then you need to alter config.win32.h to point to the location you want.. Change the following: #define CONFIGURATION_FILE_PATH "php.ini" #define CONFIGURATION_FILE_PATH "<new_path>php.ini" Other than that I know no real way to get the paths that windows looks at.. I think its .\, %WINDOWS%\ %WINDOWS%\system\, or on WINNT its .\, %SYSTEMROOT%\ %SYSTEMROOT%\system although Id have to check those on my WinNT machine.. Maybe we can look at having a #IFDEF WIN32 in there to make this clearer although I dont think its that unclear myself its just a case of understanding how windows works.
