'course I did... I've been using Windoze for long enough to know that
just about anything you do to system settings requires a reboot...

One down. Works perfectly now.

Still no luck (pulling hair out in despair).
Used the exact code specified above, and same install path, I'm still
getting the same error message:
GConf Error: Failed to launch configuration server: Failed to execute
helper program (No such file or directory)
Might it be that I'm missing some file that gconfd-2 needs and for some
reason is not included in the beta distribution?
BTW, I noticed another few little bugs. Having cleared the xpm problem,
GtkIconFileSelection now works, but it cannot handle extended chars in
paths - and my 'home' path just happens to have an eacute in it ;->
The error message is the classic:
Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string passed to pango_layout_set_text()
Which usually means you've forgotten to set the php-gtk.codepage in the
ini file, but this was not the problem, and extended chars in other
widgets e.g. GtkTextView are handled OK.
Also, it doesnt know what to do with a drive root folder e.g. 'C:\'. It
takes off the trailing backslash and produces the following:
WARNING **: Can not stat folder: C:
However, type 'C:/' (notice trailing *slash*) in the 'Go to' field and it
will work. But 'C:\WINNT' now becomes 'C:/\WINNT', etc. etc.
And finally, it doesn't know about the scroll wheel. Grrr. I guess that,
for the foreseeable future, I will have to continue annoying my Windoze
users with the Gtk file selector widgets :-)

I sure am ;-)
