Hi, I am part of the Midgarddev community, and we are discussing better integration with PHP, PEAR and the general PHP dev community. Our intention is to try and align Midgard with the standards, tools and approaches that have been developing in te PHP dev community and are consolidating on PEAR. So far, Midgard taken quite a separate path from the PHP development, developing its own install mechanisms and tools. Now that PEAR is gathering steam (and good code!) it seems sensible to start thinking of using the PEAR facilities and bring our code to the party. This should be made easier by the fact that newer PHP versions support Midgard better. That means that we don't need to patch PHP anymore and that a PHP-only Midgard is possible (or becoming so). I would like to hear your thoughts on whether this is a good path to follow or not. In nutshell, what I am looking for is: - Some discussion on whether we are welcome around here ;) - are Midgard-specific modules welcome? - should PEAR have a Midgard category? - or the Midgard community have a separate PEAR server users can configure as a secondary source? (if PEAR tools allow) Eventually, if PEAR is actually the place for Midgard code, we might be looking for: - PEAR accounts for key Midgard developers. - Some support as we start PEAR-izing our existing modules, code and lifestyles. regards, martin
