You're wrong here: When you release packages outside of pear.php.net, there will be no announcement on the PEAR mailinglists or the website.

Martin, both you and Lukas have said that I misunderstood about the announcements. Hmmm, I seem to have misunderstood Betrand when he said:

as he was referring to generic packages. Hmmmm. PEAR has an RSS feed, Migard does, as well. Should be be thinking of aggregating them? Would the PEAR website benefit from hooking to Midgard's RSS feed? It is not related to the packaging issue, really, but it seems that the Midgard community has grown a bit apart from the core PHP community, and I am for getting them back together. regards, martin
