On the other hand, great work with PEAR_ErrorStack. You've clearly done a lot of thinking about this stuff.
Can someone please point me to ErrorStack. I have looked on pear.php.net and I have tried to install it with the installer. Neither have given up any code.

if you have PEAR version 1.3.1 installed, it is in PEAR/ErrorStack.php. Documentation is at http://pear.php.net/package/PEAR/docs/1.3.1/li_PEAR_ErrorStack.html and also at: http://pear.php.net/manual/en/core.pear.pear-errorstack.php Greg
