I believe that this may turn into some sort of religious debate, so I'll
only make my point clear once: Similar to private members, protected
members restrict their usage scope to certain parts of code. In
contradiction to this, public members do not impose any scope
restrictons. This is the reason why I mentioned that protected members
should be handled similar to private members at the beginning of the
whole discussion.
