I would say use QuickForm. HTML_Form is old and moldy. ;-)

Again, I would say it would be useful to allow different kinds of
editing to happen. FormBuilder is what should be used with DataObjects
so that links and such can be handled correctly.
BTW, why are you talking about editing columns per data source? I
would think that the editable things would be rows, not columns.
