I talked to Christian off-list: my suggestion with the null values was
based upon a missunderstanding.
So my new suggestion (agreed by Christian) is to use $col as the offset
value if $contents in set{Header/Body/Footer/Cell}Contents() is an
array. Example:
$table->setCellContents(3, 2, array('A', 'B', 'C'));
==> row 3, col 2 = 'A'
row 3, col 3 = 'B'
row 3, col 4 = 'C'
