As I'm working with PEAR classes on a daily basis in a paid job, I'm willing
to loiter on the forum to make sure its kept ticking over. Obviously it
would be good to get further support, maybe from people who have more
knowledge with certain packages could look after the specific package forum.

Although multiple languages is nice for the world, it would mean that
duplicate discussions are carried out. As far as I am aware the pear-general
mailing list is only available in English currently and still gets enough
traffic.

Yes, I think its important not to side track core PEAR developers with more
hassle. The lack of documentation for some packages is more important - but
I think a nice browseable (and indexed by Google) Forum can complement the
documentation for each class.
I would suggest a separate forum for each package, so each package webpage
could have adirect link to the relevant support forum too. A nice integrated
approach to the existing PEAR website.

In some ways that is like Google Groups does for the newsgroups?
As long as the PEAR-Group where hapy about the quality of the forum setup
I'm sure it would be acceptable to keep a 'brand' acros to he forums, same
colour, layout, logo etc.
I noticed the German PEAR forum looks rather, hmm, different.
