Having *only* a mailing list to offer support can sometimes deter people from coming to play. Often they don't like the idea of (possibly) hundreds of emails in their inbox each week. Breaking the forum up in to each of its packages means people can keep their discussion targetted to other users of the same package. Pear-general discussion is often revolving around the Quickform and various DB classes - probably the most popular packages of PEAR? What I would like to see, would be the ability to get emailed each day with a summary of the topics being discussed in a specific package forum. That way you could still keep up with whats going on, without your mailbox drowning in the daly mails. And an altrnative to the summary email - an RSS feed for the forum. Just an idea.
