Yes, I was. I had to ask my system administrator to punch a hole in the corporate firewall just so that I could run go-pear :-( Ouch, that is not normal. I run go-pear behind the same kind of firewall. I introduced changes for in go-pear last year because i had the problems you had. Go-pear.bat asks for the proxy. One thing that should be added to it though is that it does not tell the exact format. you need to enter http://user:password@proxy.myhost.com:port I't been a while now but I think I already tried this format but our firewall had some other peculiarity. It was just easier to disable it for my machine.
and the script will honor it so you don't need to to punch a hole in your firewall. I'll file a bug report for that to be added to the script. None the less, I have posted my original other thread below which outlines the problem. Now that go-pear has worked and I have the basic pear packages, I am trying to use pear.bat to install an additional package, in this case, HTTP. More information is in my original post to this thread. I should have kept it all in the same thread but it was a two-headed issue. Reading your other post do a pear config-show it will tell you where the files get installed. Look for PEAR_Directory. Sometimes it happens that the configuration gets losts, if this is the case you will have to do a pear config-set Ah, this proved useful even though I didn't have to change any settings (they were all correct).
I think I have everything working now.
