Good example - HTTP::Cache proposal. It was deleted, but as a user I've got a strong need in such a package and I want to place my vote on it, but I can't. Others said to look into HTTP::Download, HTTP::Header, but give me an example - how to use them like HTTP::Cache with one function to cache some content, one function to disable that cache, to generate Etag's for my images and Last-modified for my SQL queries interface? This proposal was deleted without even asking users - do _they_ need that package? Closed developers caste (no more than 10 people) decided, that package should not exists, because there are already solution known only to them. Do not take it personal - take a look from outside.
FUD Everybody was able to participate in the discussion on pear-dev We care about a coherent set of classes. Until we have a coherent solution for a given problem I suggest to go to hotscripts for the things missing. We cant provide intermediate solutions, because that will mean we will have to support them, which means its a long terms thing. But for long term stuff we prefer a coherent solution. Its crap like this that will make sure that nobody sees your contributions and instead only sees the endless amount of FUD you spew over the PEAR mailinglists. This is not going to make anyone see your suggestions in a positive light, which is critical to get people to care for your suggestion during their free time. regards, Lukas Smith smith@backendmedia.com _______________________________ BackendMedia www.backendmedia.com berlin@backendmedia.com Linn Zwoch Smith GbR Pariser Str. 44 D-10707 Berlin Tel +49 30 83 22 50 00 Fax +49 30 83 22 50 07
