Wez and Stephan, Not to chime in on your conversion....but while your on the subject A little while back I wrote an iTunes playlist parser so I can access my playlists from work, which, like many other side projects I never completely finished. Anyway, I of course chose PHP as my weapon of choice but there was no extension (except ogvorbis but its a little different) to read/write mp3's and idv tags so I decided to write a mp3 extension to read/write mp3's and id3 tags (v1 and 2). I haven't worked on it in a minute but I have allot of code which wraps L.A.M.E. (under the LGPL) and so I decided to compliment it with another PHP extension to libsndfile (also under LGPL) which can read and write many different sound formats including AIFF, WAV, AU, RAW and more. But again never completely finished. This sparks a new interest for me though. Stephan, Maybe we can compress the two extensions (id3 and mp3) into one? L.A.M.E. comes with id3 tags support. My prototype for mp3_id3tag_write() looks like: proto bool mp3_id3tag_write(resource mp3, int id3tag_type [, string id3tag_value]) Wez, This sounds like an informal extension(s) proposal. How would you feel about these extension is PECL? Like I said I still have a little more work to do on them so I'm afraid the code I have is a little too messy to show. I go on vacation this week and I'll be back on the 22nd so I can finish them up then. What do you think? The names would be 'mp3' and 'sndfile' with function prefixes mp3_* and sndfile_*.
