I feel like an idiot replying to myself, but whatever...
If anybody's interested, I've posted some documentation for my id3 extension
here...

That'll give a pretty good idea of how it works. If anybody wants the source
code, I can make that available, too. I'd rather not release it publicly
yet, so if somebody wants it they can drop me an email and I'll provide a
link or something.
