At 01:34 15-6-2002, Markus Fischer shared with all of us:
So far I've only received a single response and bug report
(which has been fixed immidiately thanks to Stefan S.) which
clearly shows more testing isn't bad.
sendmail_from currently doesn't check the format and surrounds it
with <>. Since it's also incorrectly documented, as the 'From:' header,
instead of the MAIL FROM command, this can lead to confusion.
Further more I would love to see MAILER-DAEMON supported as a special
string, that would set:
MAIL FROM: <>
The reason is to avoid mailloops, when a php script is used to process
bounces.
The work I planned to
do on the extension is pretty much finished (except I forgot
something important?).
Maybe - AUTH? Not talking about the whole libesmtp here - just AUTH - or
maybe this is the right point in time to discuss a generic framework for
extended smtp functionality?
