Just a thought... but this was something I discovered in my install of
php4.0.2dv, apache 1.3.12, and oracle 8.1.6 client. Oracle 8 has a new type of
TNS definition, defining a connection by "SERVICE_NAME" instead of using the
Oracle 7 standard of "SID". I initially instantiated my net8 connection to
database server using the new SERVICE_NAME type, and I couldn't get php_oci8 to
connect correctly... but when I removed that definition in net8 and re-defined
using SID instead, then php_oci8 connected successfully.
Check to see how you have your connection defined in net8 assist, and try
tweaking that :)
