Oh, I forgot 4. - the generator won't work if E_STRICT is enabled. That was another interesting one, right up until I opened gen_atk.c to take a look. And ps obviously the 2.6 build works fine if all those includes for later versions are removed from the base .defs and .overrides files. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steph Fox" <steph@zend.com> To: "Andrei Zmievski" <andrei@gravitonic.com>; "Anant Narayanan" <anant@kix.in> Cc: "Elizabeth M Smith" <auroraeosrose@gmail.com>; "PHP-GTK dev" <php-gtk-dev@lists.php.net> Sent: Monday, January 21, 2008 2:58 AM Subject: Re: [PHP-GTK-DEV] Release?
Findings: 1. Versioning's 99% of the way there but doesn't work with older versions. I.e. my 2.6 build, although correctly identified as such, tries to include 2.10 features for some still-unknown reason and so fails. We should probably simply have later versions include older overrides from the start, rather than do fancy footwork to make the older version skip over them, no? Does anyone know a good reason not to do it that way? 2. We need to get Edin to kill the GTK+ 1.3 headers in his zip.zip (win32 build environment). That had me going for a bit :\ 3. Little bits and pieces need tidying up, e.g. if I configure --all and a header for a lowly extension happens to be missing the entire build aborts. This was less of a problem when we only had one extension than it is now. --all should probably force the build and give just a warning at that point, so long as php-gtk itself is built. There are also a lot of compiler warnings here... I know the ZVAL_ZVAL definition in the Zend Engine throws some we can't get around, but it'd be nice to get this a bit cleaner. That's, erm, when it will build here :) Will spend some time on it tomorrow. - Steph ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steph Fox" <steph@zend.com> To: "Andrei Zmievski" <andrei@gravitonic.com>; "Anant Narayanan" <anant@kix.in> Cc: "Elizabeth M Smith" <auroraeosrose@gmail.com>; "PHP-GTK dev" <php-gtk-dev@lists.php.net> Sent: Sunday, January 20, 2008 6:59 PM Subject: Re: [PHP-GTK-DEV] Release?

I'm just waiting on the 'dows folks. As soon as they confirm all is well, I'll tag and release. -Andrei On Jan 20, 2008, at 6:42 AM, Anant Narayanan wrote:
Hi,
I wouldn't be too specific about how long it was in development.. makes us look slow. :) Could just say "after a long development and QA cycle".
Revised announcement: -- After a long development and QA cycle, we are proud to release version 2.0 of PHP-GTK. This release marks PHP-GTK 2 as stable and comes with support for GTK+ versions 2.6 through 2.12. Although support for more recent versions than 2.8 is not 100% complete, we hope to cover as much of the API as possible in upcoming releases. This release comes with support for custom GTypes and Signals, more API coverage, and the usual slew of bug fixes. Take a look at the Changelog for detailed information on changes since the beta. If you're looking to learn PHP-GTK, the documentation is a great place to start. There's also an excellent book from Apress by Scott Mattocks on the topic. We hope you will enjoy developing applications with PHP-GTK 2. Please don't hesitate to file bug reports at the bug tracker, or give us feedback on the php-gtk- general mailing list. Have fun! -- I'll be linking to GTK+, the documentation, Scott's book, the bug tracker and mailing list. Are we ready to tag and release yet? I know we're all set on the *nix end... Cheers, Anant
