I think this discussion is going into wrong direction. IMO
if someone is contributing to PEAR only for 1) fame, 2) getting
free stuff from other people, that someone is contributing for
all wrong reasons. Personally I contribute only becaue of
the satisfaction I get when I feel I might helped out someone.
So please. Keep the money and support "contracts" out of PEAR.
If someone wants to provide commercial support for his
package thats his job. PEAR should not be used for endorsing
any commercial-like activity.
Everyone who have not allready done so should read the
developers guide in PEAR manual:
http://pear.php.net/manual/en/developers.contributing.php
"4) The contributor ("you") is willing to provide support for his
package(s) and is willing to release future (bug-fixing) versions.
If you are not willing to maintain your code, it probably makes
no sense to contribute it. Maintaining means in PEAR's case that
you provide support via the various mailing lists, and that you
are willing to roll further releases of your code, that contain
bugfixes and enhancements. "
So if youre not willing to provide support and bugfixes
for free you package should not be in PEAR.
