Hello, The first elections for the new PEAR Group will commence in about 24 hours, and last until May 1. The candidates, listed at http://pear.php.net/election/info.php?election=7&vote=1, are: David Coallier http://pear.php.net/user/davidcI'd like to self-nominate as well. I've been around in PEAR for quite a while and have taken the lead on Text_Wiki and DB_DataObject_FormBuilder as well as creating a new package, HTML_QuickForm_ElementGrid, and submitted numerous bugs and patches for many other packages. I additionally maintain the DB_DataObject_FormBuilder_Frontend package on pearified.com and have used PEAR packages in many websites and projects. I have also been active on the PEAR mailing lists and have participated in many important discussions and debates as well as helped to make new users aware of our coding and other standards. If elected to the PEAR Group I will help to solidify our standards and help make decisions that will allow easier collaboration and transparency. -- Justin PatrinBertrand Mansion http://pear.php.net/user/mansion Christian Weiske http://pear.php.net/user/cweiske Helgi Þormar http://pear.php.net/user/dufuz Arnaud Limbourg http://pear.php.net/user/arnaudMartin Jansen http://pear.php.net/user/mj Paul M. If each candidate would be willing to describe their ideals (or specific plans) for moving PEAR forward, this may be helpful for those who are going to be voting. 7 candidates will be selected for the PEAR Group. This election is the big one: the PEAR Group will make decisions that affect every single developer, including defining what a collective is, which packages belong to which collectives, assigning CVS karma for developers, and other vitally important tasks.
