Hi, Gregory Beaver wrote: > The first elections for the new PEAR Group will commence in about 24 > hours, and last until May 1. My work on PEAR started with a lot of bug reports and feature requests, and finally really started by taking over the maintainership of DB_Table from Paul M. Jones. Since them, I'm work on several PEAR packages like Structures_DataGrid, HTML_Table or the tableless renderer (and the appendant DHTMLRules) for HTML_QuickForm. I'm also doing some more activities, like providing help on the pear-general list and some PEAR forums (e.g. pear-forum.de or pear-forum.org). I'm also responsible for building the weekly CHM versions of the PEAR manual (for EN, DE, FR; together with Takagi Masahiro who provides the JA version). Finally, although not being a member of the QA group, I also did (and do) some QA work, e.g. by "insisting" on the PEAR CS, by following the pear-cvs list for problems with the comments, or by watching the compliance with the decisions of the old PEAR group. My goals as a possible member of the new PEAR Group are: - make PEAR ready for PHP 5 and 6 (not only seen for PEAR2, but also for the packages that are now in PEAR), while keeping the PHP 4 stuff at least bug "free" (comparable to how DB is still maintained for bug fixes, while MDB2 is the "active" database abstraction layer in PEAR) - improve the way packages get into PEAR (the current PEPr rejections showed some problems with the current way) - improve the documentation, e.g. I like Greg's idea of providing multiple package spanning tutorials (a rather short example of this can be found on my website for QF, QFC, tableless renderer and DHTMLRules) And finally something that is also important in my opinion: If I should ever have not enough time anymore to work as a group member (not likely for the next year, of course), I would tell it and I would not disappear silently as some of the old group members did.
