Funny, my 9.10 ubuntu claims 5.2.10. Maybe 10.04 LTS will have 5.3.
Also, regarding debian -- what do you run "testing"?
Generally, of course you can get all the new software on those distros
with unofficial repositories, but the majority doesn't do that.
