Bjorn (sorry, no umlaut) wrote "That's a monopolistic structure hurting innovation." Sorry, this seems to be argument baiting at it's best. Some people are going to defend, others deny, and then it goes on until we call each other nazies. This is the PEAR mailing list. Personally, I've found PHPLIB to be unreliable and hacked. _I'm_ not doing it again. I've written quite a bit with PEAR in the last year (wow, it's been a year) and every change and upgrade has improvement to the code and the expectation of PHP and PHP Coders. To push and innovate the language itself, which in my opinion, PHPLIB doesn't do. Also, more than once PEAR's code has been roto-routered to something better - the DB Error is a good example, and the move to raiseError as well. Please, let's stick to facts and not bait each other. -B And just for fun, "Monopolies" destroy innovation of competition, not from within, _net is a wonderfully diverse, innovative product. I know this because Microsoft told me so. -----Original Message----- From: Björn Schotte [mailto:bjoern@baer.main.de] Sent: Saturday, July 21, 2001 11:04 AM To: Martin Jansen Cc: pear-dev@lists.php.net Subject: Re: [PEAR-DEV] Something about PEAR policy Hi, * Martin Jansen wrote: > >there's a new discussion about migrating PHPLIB's > >classes into PEAR. > Where? I don't like the idea having only one class in one category, e.g. having one template class, having one DB abstraction layer and so on.
