Because it's very much standard proceedure to NOT use software labled "beta"
in a production environment. No matter how stable you might think the
software is, it's authors are clearly saying it's not finished yet. If you
feel the need to use beta software in a production environment then that's
your perogative. Our shop chooses not to. Over time, that practice will
get you burned.
The whole reason why we use development servers is so we can see the
coolest, fastest, newest beta stuff as it comes out, boxes that we could
care less if they are up or down, crashed, etc... But we keep it far away
from production boxes. Playing it safe is the only way to go in a
production environment.
