what we need is a comprehensive reference site. Then simple enquiries would not come to this mailing list. Anyone who has used the php.net site would agree what a wonderful and clear resource that is. Rarely now do I look a set of functions without picking up their uses rapidly - this is clearly the model to look to. What gtk.php.net needs is a team of programmers to write a reference manual covering each widget, fucntion, method, property ect - all with clear, easy to understand examples and obviously a good navigation scheme. For those of you that have useed Delphi then think along those lines. When I'm using pure php I have the offical site there all the time - it is an essential resource for me. With PHP-GTK I am often bouncing around all corners of the web. So how about an offically organised team which will produce manual pages, review \ correct others work and a further small team to direct it. Tutorials are good within their limitations but to unleash the true power of PHP-GTK we need a definitive reference source. So how about it? I'd be willing to donate time every week to it - any other takers? -----Original Message----- From: tony@php.net [mailto:tony@php.net] Sent: 16 July 2004 07:36 To: steph@zend.com Cc: Joel De Gan; php-gtk Subject: RE: [PHP-GTK] what is going on with gtk.php.net? > If you're into writing articles, how about a bunch of > tutorials that go a bit beyond 'hello world' that we can xml-ify and add to > the manual? i could write you an app and a tutorial. I write php for a living and have built several enterprise level apps in php-gtk. I could come up with a scaled down version of one of them to show how php-gtk can be used in the real world. Question is though can we host it somewhere on gtk.php.net as i don't believe that a bunch of tutorials spread all over the net is very useful. Unfortunately though I don't speak xml either. I'm thinking about a simple warehouse application (as that's what I know best), would that be too specific for most people? tony -- PHP-GTK General Mailing List (http://gtk.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
