Sorry I gave a very poor and rushed idea of what I was thinking..
I mean't server based, possibly a socket server to pass data between the gtk app and the database.

When designing the warehouse app i mentiond in my reply to another post, we prototyped with web and with gtk With gtk it takes around 5 seconds to dispatch an order. It takes 20 on the web, mainy down to the time to refresh pages (even if they are tiny, they will never keep up with gtk). Also you get a complicated form, you have to use a mouse much more on the web unless you write some pretty funcky javascript to handle tabbing forwards backward and sidewards. Take that extra 15 seconds X it by 10000 orders a day for example. Time is money :) tony:oP ========================================== Richard Black Senior Developer, DataVisibility Ltd - http://www.datavisibility.com Tel: 0141 951 8008 Email: rblack@datavisibility.co.ukTony Leake <tony@php.net> To: "guillaume.B" <guillaume@sialoo.com> cc: php-gtk-general@lists.php.net 22/07/2004 17:15 Subject: Re: [PHP-GTK] what is going on with gtk.php.net? If it's a shared address book say for a business where several people may need to update it at the same time, or the users are not all based at the same site, then it would be a database app. tony -- PHP-GTK General Mailing List (http://gtk.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php ________________________________________________________________________ This e-mail has been scanned for all viruses by Star Internet.
