In other words, it *is* a bug and this option is there only for those like you who developed workarounds for it. I am saddened to hear that adding *one* setOption() call after a template object instantiation will be too enormous a job for such people.$tpl->setOption('use_preg', true);make this default. Will not. Current behaviour is counter-intuitive:
$tpl->setOption('preserve_data', true);sounds ok. Really? Well, thank you, Christian!
Since then I made lots of BC-related changes, added testing suite, etc. Judging by the server logs, quite a number of people downloaded and (hopefully) tested my package. :] If someone wants to vote now or to re-vote, he is most welcome. :]IMHO we will not accept it as a fork. We had some discussion and don't want a fork in PEAR. PEAR aimes to have not many concurrent packages. Forks are even worse. This discussion is among the reasons that I urge people to consider voting/re-voting for my proposal.
IMHO a relacement will not be accepted too. Provide diffs against current version and these can be reviewed and if not BC breaking accepted. Somehow I have a strong sensation of deja vu. Do you?If you are this impatient to *review* something, please review my unit tests and tell everyone why they cannot be used to check for backwards compatibility. Of course, you can answer that it would not be you who will actually review my patches, but Pierre-Alain is *really* busy as always. He haven't found time either to review my work or to answer simple "yes" or "no" to the question whether I should apply for a PEAR account to help him work on HTML_Template_IT.
There will be no other way to go. Amen, brother.P.S. I will not bother making patches right now, 'cause the amount of work needed to extract them is big enough. I will create them iff my work is OK'd *and* I am requested to do so. P.P.S. "IMHO" and "we" don't mix well.
