Sorry about the cliche, but "this is Open Source". The fact that someone
who is not satisfied with your package can make their own version of it is
a PLUS. Usually people come to their senses after a while and start
working together, but the social/political process is often much harder
than the technical one.
But let's not worry about problems that do not exist yet. :)
After reading up a bit more on this thread I'm in favor of 1) a major
version increase, or 2) an alternative a new package (if Alexey intends to
do more work on it).
