If they want to keep the API then a wrapper would be a better idea
(however this will cost performance of course). Anyways the point is
that we dont want to add needless redundant packages and I dont see a
reason to have more than two packages that handle DB interfacing.
Also keep in mind that this sort of functionality is quite complex and
maintenance intensive. Especially as the DB extensions change/mature.
Therefore I would rather see your energy going into writing a wrapper
for PEAR DB and/or helping in improving DB/MDB. I will certainly appose
yet another package in this area.
