One good reason is that other PEAR components depend on DB abstraction. In
current situation PEAR components that need to use a db either need to chose
one layer or support both: DB_DataObjects MDB_DataObjects, DB_NestedSet
(also supports MDB). Deciding to use a PEAR tools as the foundation for a
web app / site should not mean that any any point any or all of three
different db abstraction layers may be called into action.
