An additional idea might be to equip PHPLIB::DB with a package.xml,
which allows users to install it via:
$ pear install http://phplib.sf.net/download/db.tgz
This way people being interested in using the DB layer can easily
install it and we (PEAR) don't have to officially support yet another
database abstraction layer.
